The growing need for industrial automation-related workers will continue. In addition to formally trained mechanical, electrical and design engineers, industry will need automation specialists, robot programmers, system assemblers, installers and more. These will be higher paying skilled jobs for trained and motivated workers. But where will these workers come from?
Vocational training is one avenue to get people educated about the opportunities and trained to do higher tech jobs. Community and technical colleges can also assist in this ongoing mission. While the problem is not limited to the USA, every company in the production/manufacturing industry can help enlighten and motivate the next generation of technical workers. Internships, co-op programs and apprenticeships are important.
Growing companies like RōBEX who design, engineer, and install custom robotic automation systems are constantly looking for talented, motivated individuals willing to learn. Next generation workers need to understand that being an engineer or technician is a creative, problem-solving experience and career. As an industry, we need to spotlight opportunities that await those willing to work and learn.
Engineering degrees are helpful, but the right aptitude and attitude can go a very long way. RōBEX is working with several regional schools in Northwest Ohio to help spread the word. “Our leadership team is giving lectures for students regarding automation, helping to develop curriculum elements and promoting internship opportunities. We engage at Bowling Green State University, University of Toledo, Owens Community College, vocational education schools like Penta Tech and others”, said VP of Growth Cal Bowers.
RōBEX is a growing engineering-based company that has consistently attracted intelligent, talented people in an environment where they can grow personally and professionally. Our core business is developing automation solutions for customers in manufacturing, beverage, food, building products, packaging, and distribution.
